Archaeologists in South Africa have discovered the oldest intentionally painted art piece ever found. It is a shard of a grinding stone that has been been deliberately colored with a red ochre crayon. The hatched design is a symbol seen in other areas. Carbon dating dates the find to be 73,000 years old. It just goes to show you, we have been playing with crayons for a long time!
